Linguist
We are seeking a talented and dedicated linguist to join our team in support of the Texas Department of Public Safety - Criminal Investigations Division (CID). The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and be proficient in Spanish or another language, in addition to having excellent command of the English language.
Essential Job Duties
- Conduct linguistic analysis and research on assigned projects.
- Translate and interpret documents, conversations, and audio recordings from the target language(s) to English and vice versa.
- Provide linguistic expertise and support across various departments.
- Collaborate with other linguists and professionals to ensure accuracy and consistency in language use.
- Participate in language assessment tests and evaluations.
Minimum Requirements
- Proficiency in Spanish or another language, demonstrated through a language assessment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good to excellent computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and other relevant software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred in Linguistics, Foreign Languages, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistic research.
- Familiarity with linguistic software tools and databases.
- Knowledge of cultural nuances and sensitivity in language use.
Work Environment
- Must be willing to work weekends.
- Must work flexible schedule
