Overview

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the planning and coordination of the assigned daily shift and all supporting tasks and personnel needed on shift to fulfill the logistics of the day-to-day operations. The supervisor is the assigned point of contact for the shift and responsible for proper prioritization of tasks and initiatives related to program-wide activities as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.


Essential Job Duties

 

  • Plans, coordinates, organizes staff assignments for the shift.
  • Assists in the development of staff and training, including On the Job Training and on-going training.
  • Verifies compliance of day-to-day operations of shelter to uphold organization and state standards.
  • Communicates and cooperates with program management, subordinates, stakeholders and families.
  • Utilizes various Microsoft suite products and other databases to achieve assigned tasks.
  • Compiles and sends daily reports to management, to encompass daily task completed, incident reporting, headcount changes, etc.
  • Maintains appropriate records of staff performance and provides coaching.
  • Completes staff performance appraisals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Operation Supervisors.
  • Reports directly to the Operations Supervisor, ensuring to keep Ops Supervisor aware of any incidents, changes, inventory needs or assistance needed at the shelter or day center.

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Associate’s degree in a social sciences or management/administration related field or 2 years equivalent work experience with at least 6 months of some leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong computer and software proficiency to include the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets and electronic presentations; high proficiency in typing, and automated processes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills, strong work ethic and ability to understand and appreciate mission requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including developing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and subcontractors, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven success working in support of Federal, state and local agencies.

Work Environment

  • Normal office working conditions.
  • Requires periods of non-traditional hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary.
  • May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
  • May require up to 25% travel in support of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
